Self-Healing Systems: Through Autonomic ComputingArbind Agrahari Baniya A., A. Vanathi
With the advancement of technology, we are able to build complex computing systems; but not the perfect ones. Now and then the systems face different failures. It is not always feasible for human to handle the failures. Developing upon the initiative started by IBM in 2001 regarding Autonomic Computers also referred to as Self-managing systems, this paper proposes to do thorough literature survey of the achievements that has been made in the field of Self-Healing Systems, its applications and the challenges. Self-Healing systems adapt to changes in various environmental constraints. The changes may be either internal or external. And then, restore the system functionalities to the desired state as per policies. We also discuss various approaches and mechanisms adapted in the field of Self-Healing Systems and its possible applications.
